Learning is an art in this multipurpose space

Olympic College Instruction Center

Olympic College is committed to providing excellent academic opportunities for its students as well as unique cultural experiences for its community. That’s why the College Instruction Center (CIC) was proposed—a building that combines health occupation and fine, performing, and digital arts programs into one learning environment while also serving as a performance space for the community to enjoy.

On any given day, students might come to the CIC to study physical therapy, choir, pottery, nursing, music, or a host of other subjects. A varied range of acoustical solutions were needed to allow the building to cater to the needs of each program—from the fine-tuned frequency requirements of the music department to the sound masking that promotes focus for nursing classes.

In our design, each learning environment is separate and individually catered to, but the building remains a unified space for students of all kinds to come together.
