Patterson Irrigation District - Main Canal Rehabilitation

California Central Valley is an agricultural region where irrigation is necessary and water is in high demand. Patterson Irrigation District (PID) serves growers in this area, from the San Joaquin River to Highway 33. With aging infrastructure and rising water demands, PID launched a major upgrade of their main canal system to support reliable service for current and future users. They engaged us to help.

We provided design, construction management, and inspection services—supporting PID’s vision for revitalizing the main canal. Throughout the project, we worked closely with PID, involving them in design reviews, construction planning, cost management, and quality assurance. PID led a comprehensive rehabilitation of the aging infrastructure to replace two pumping plants with new, high-capacity stations. They installed nearly two miles (three kilometres) of welded steel pipeline, rehabilitated two miles (three kilometres) of existing canals and lining, and added advanced electrical controls and pumping technology.

The main canal rehabilitation strengthens PID’s ability to deliver water efficiently, adapting to changing demands and environmental pressures. This proactive infrastructure renewal, technical innovation, engagement with invested parties, and long-term stewardship demonstrates how water resource leaders can invest in the future of their communities.
