Bringing a metering station back from decommissioning to full use

PG&E Magnolia station is branched off from L 300B and used to supply gas to Getty Oil. Due to a change in ownership, supply of the gas was discontinued, and the station was decommissioned. When Chevron Corporation requested PG&E to reactivate the existing metering station to provide natural gas for their Cogen facilities, we were brought in to provide multi-discipline engineering, design, and construction support for the installation.

The project included the design of a metering train including an automated safety valve, gas filtering unit, gas quality analyzer, and custody transfer natural gas flow meter. Engineering and design also included automation and control equipment (SCADA), remote communication, electrical power supply, an insulated security fence, and a grounding grid. We also contributed required metering and safety components.

This project was a fast-track and multi-team coordination and alignment effort. Our project team used 3D modeling technology for better coordination and alignment with different teams.
