Roosevelt University - Vertical Campus

The new 32-story Academic, Student Life, and Residence Center raises the profile of Roosevelt University and elevates the quality of the campus experience for its students. This vertical campus is the tallest educational building in Chicago and the second tallest educational building in the United States. It’s joined to the landmark Auditorium Theater Building, designed by renowned Chicago architects Adler and Sullivan, and located where the university was founded in 1945.

A primary mission of the university is to prepare students for a lifelong, never-ending pursuit of knowledge and intellectual growth. This goal inspired the design team to model the tower on the sculpture “Endless Column,” an homage to the sacrifice of Romanian soldiers in the First World War, created by Constantin Brancusi. Roosevelt University’s celebration of diversity and its curriculum based on principles of social justice are represented in the tower’s varied shades of blue glass.

Student services and student life facilities, a dining hall, a fitness center, lecture halls, classrooms, science laboratories, and Roosevelt’s Heller College of Business are surmounted by a 634-bed residence hall where suite-style dwelling units and lounges have commanding views of the Chicago Loop and Lake Michigan.
