San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility Capital Improvement
The San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility serves over 1.4 million residents and a business sector with more than 17,000 sewer connections. The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) consists of an extensive wastewater plant rehabilitation as well as the development of new processes and improvements for portions of the existing plant.
Starting in 2013, our team led a rapid mobilization including over 80 workshops and meetings and a validation effort that consolidated 33 projects and 10 programmatic studies into larger, logical packages for implementation to provide 5- and 10-year CIPs to the City for annual budgeting.
Currently, we’re providing program management for the CIP including program controls, construction management, risk and interface management, and health and safety management. Other services include project management for several of the larger, more complex projects and subject matter expert review. As part of the integrated team, we’re also engaged in ongoing knowledge transfer activities with City staff including development of a formalized project management training program.
Ultimately, the CIP will address rehabilitation needs and increase operational reliability of the wastewater facility, as well as improve process performance by using newer technologies and continue compliance with regulations to protect the environment.
