Creating a facility that fosters collaboration across diverse disciplines
Skidmore College was looking to create an interdisciplinary space that would embrace the emerging best practices in higher education. They wanted to create a place that would encourage collaboration across academic distinctions, and our team was there to help make that vision a reality.
The initial phase of this project included commissioning all major utilities for the project that were located in a mechanical penthouse, as well as teaching classrooms, research labs, offices, and a full vivarium. Our team provided commissioning services in support of LEED V2009 requirements. Our team assisted with design and submittal review, site progress reports, owner training confirmation, seasonal testing, trend review, and LEED documentation. We also evaluated and documented the progress of installation throughout the construction phase. This project included some unique obstacles as the spaces ultimately needed to meet the needs of diverse stakeholders of various academic backgrounds and needs.
Now complete, the facility serves as a hub that fosters interdisciplinary connections across the sciences, arts, humanities, and social sciences for Skidmore students.
