As the Northern California region grows, so does the need for quality health care that keeps pace with the burgeoning population. To meet this growth, the Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital needed to expand. Sutter Health engaged us to help.
We provided design services for the new three-story building that connects to the existing hospital at levels one and two. In a first for California, our design for the building’s exterior was the first full envelope pre-fabricated skin approved for hospital use. This new building provides an additional 40 medical and surgical beds, one operating room, an endoscopy and gastroenterology room, and 11 post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) bays. Coupled with renovations in the existing hospital, this new building also enhances access to acute care services. Renovation of the existing hospital's first floor services include an emergency department expansion to accommodate 21 treatment rooms, relocation of 10 PACU bays, expanded lab and blood draw, and central sterile processing. We also designed specialized conference room spaces for nurse, clinician, and patient learning.
Our infrastructure improvements included designing a new electrical room, IT room, and boiler room in the expansion building. To support the chilled and hot water, steam, and medical gas needs throughout the new wing expansion, we expanded the main electrical room in the original building. We also made significant upgrades to the existing central utility plant.
With this newly expanded and modernized Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital at the ready to serve the community, Sutter Health can provide needed health care today and into the future.
