SW Minot Sanitary Sewer Improvements - Phase 1B and Phase 2

Minot’s proximity to North Dakota’s oil field and the severe flooding in 2011 has led to rapid growth for the city. The Southwest Minot sewer projects open 3,400 acres to development in a phased approach. The high priority of this improvement project meant we needed to fast track Phases 1B and 2 to bring much needed service to Southwest Minot.

During design, we identified existing utilities—including a 36 inch Northwest Area Water Supply (NAWS) line—that could have slowed our schedule. This obstacle will be overcome by applying trenchless techniques, such as pipe jacking, at the sewer and NAWS crossings. Just as important, we proactively worked with existing landowners to negotiate easements and, again, keep the project moving.

Stantec has already prepared the plans, specifications, and cost estimates and secured permits from the North Dakota State Water Commission, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, North Dakota Department of Health, and Ward County.

We are currently providing construction services for 26,000 feet of 12 x 24 inch gravity sewer, 12,150 feet of 10 x 12 inch force main, and three lift stations.
