Designing a data center for unparalleled performance and reliability—in 8000 square feet of humble office space
The Markley Group is New England’s largest and longest operating multi-tenant office, and has a proven track record of unparalleled performance and reliability. They came to us with a challenge: design a mission-critical data center for high-profile clients like MIT, The New York Times, and the Boston Red Sox. The only problem was space, and having little of it. Our team was challenged to develop a workplace that boasts MGs Network Operations Center (NOC), establishes an inviting atmosphere, and maximizes the use of very limited space.
We made the most of the 8,000 SF available to us—fifteen-foot ceilings, unobstructed sight lines, and simple detailing saved the Markley Group ample amounts of space. We used crisp white finishes and a bold carpet to contrast nicely against the exposed masonry walls and concrete beams. Glass walls in the office reveal MGs data centers for an uninterrupted view of the company's mission, while the colorful artwork provides a common source of inspiration for clients and employees.
