The Roads Neighborhood Roadway and Drainage Improvements

The City of Miami wanted to enhance stormwater infrastructure within several streets in their historic Roads Neighborhood. They selected us as the prime consultant for this comprehensive project and a broader program involving upgrades to over three miles (five kilometres) of streets.

We conducted preliminary cost estimates to assist the City in prioritizing and selecting project areas, which we then analyzed for water quantity and quality for improvements. We designed new drainage systems to replace old slab covered trenches that would function under a sample five-year one-hour sample storm event.

Our scope also included a new exfiltration trench, new inlets, curb and gutters, sidewalk repairs, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp design and installation, and detectable warning mats to promote safe pedestrian usage. Additionally, we provided milling and resurfacing of the existing asphalt roadway, new signage, striping, and swale restoration.

These efforts will contribute significantly to the resilience and sustainability of Miami’s infrastructure, particularly in this historic neighborhood.
