Town of Clayton Event Center
Having hosted the first ever National Rodeo Finals Steer Roping and Barrel Racing event in 1959, Clayton embodies a rich cultural history of rodeo and ranching. Following an economic impact report, the Town of Clayton set out to build a new event center and rodeo ground with funding from multiple grant sources. They reached out to our team to help design a new indoor arena, event center, and recreational vehicle (RV) campsite.
We provided surveying, civil engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture design as well as bidding and construction phase services. We also assisted the City in applying for funding support through multiple grants, which included a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) along with quality of life, legislative appropriations, and recreation grants. Additionally, we presented the event center and rodeo arena to city council and provided renderings for public review.
When complete, the new event center and rodeo ground is expected to generate $16.3 million in economic impact over the first 10 years. In addition to rodeos and horse shows, the arena can be used for concerts and other events. The event center will have meeting rooms, a concession area, bathrooms, and space for weddings, quinceañeras, dances, farmers markets, and more. The RV park will be open and accessible all year.
