Creating a welcoming destination
Tufts University, with support from the Cummings Foundation, has planned a new academic building adjacent to the future College Avenue Stop on The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s Green Line station. With our team taking the lead on design, the Cummings Building will serve as the future home of Tufts’ computer science department, the new data-intensive studies center, Fletcher School executive education programs, the Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and the Tufts Gordon Institute.
Conceptual designs for the project support a fusion of multi-disciplinary academic departments with forward-thinking learning and collaborative spaces. As a gateway on campus, the building is designed to focus on creating a dynamic space that can support the diverse needs of students, faculty, and the community at large. The learning and meeting space will feature a flexible design that advances Tufts’ goals of delivering excellence in teaching and learning. Furthermore, the Cummings Building establishes an active ground-floor entry, with a plaza that serves as a welcoming destination for the university community and visitors alike.
Now complete, the building promotes cross collaboration and socialization between students, educators, and the community.
