Tyler High School

At 50 years old, Tyler High School was outdated and undersized for the growing community in Tyler, Texas. Facing this, community voters approved a bond referendum that would allow for significant additions and renovations to the school. That’s where we came in.

Our Architecture team set out to design a school that showcases the spirit of learning. Looking to provide an engaging and collaborative space that connects to the heart of the school, we centralized the location of the commons in proximity to the academic spaces and media center. We transformed the once dark interior into an open learning environment that expresses school pride, and created outdoor learning courtyards that enhance the campus feel and provide opportunities for outdoor learning and gathering. To top it off, we transformed the image of the school with a new, prominent, entry and worked to create better site circulation and adjacencies between building program and site amenities.

With construction now complete, Tyler High School boasts a design that is both professional and progressive.
