The nation’s largest P3 student housing project to date
Faced with a rapidly growing student body, UC Davis brought us and our public-private partnership team in to plan, design, engineer, and manage an ambitious student housing expansion. The project will include community space, recreational fields, and nine four-story apartment buildings.
Originally, West Village Student Housing development was planned for 1,875 beds, but our team, developer Michaels Organization, and general contractor CBG Building Company developed a plan to create substantially more residential units. The project is comprised of nine separate four-story structures for UC Davis student housing, along with two support structures that provide community center and utility. The design intent and constructability of the facilities is meant to be completed in a fast track fashion between two phases. Phase One is comprised of four completed residential structures and one support structure by August of 2020, and Phase Two is comprised of the remaining residential units and final community center, support structure. Working as part of the project team, our project managers have been managing the work through the construction administration (CA) and request for information (RFI) submittal process coordination, while working to move the project along while meeting client expectations.
Once complete, UC Davis will have much needed additional housing for students—a place for them to live, grow, and connect.
