The University of Houston wanted to bring together students, faculty, and industry leaders to spark ideas, foster entrepreneurship, and accelerate breakthroughs. They reached out to our team to design a dynamic facility that will drive the future of academic excellence, research, and innovation.
The Innovation Hub will be a centerpiece of the campus, strategically positioned along the new Arts Walk pedestrian corridor. Replacing the Technology Annex Building, this landmark destination will bring energy and visibility to Butler Plaza, reinforcing UH’s commitment to innovation and collaboration.
Designed for seamless connectivity, the southeast entrance will intentionally draw students in, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces to spark engagement and discovery. On the first floor, we’re creating a makerspace that will support creativity and instill an entrepreneurial mindset for students. The building will also serve as a new home for the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship and the Dakri Center for Economic Inclusion, both part of the Bauer College of Business. It will also house the Energy Transition institute and have an entire floor reserved for the Presidential Frontier Faculty program, a university-wide integrated interdisciplinary faculty hiring campaign to recruit research faculty in priority areas including health, energy, security, and sustainability.
When complete, the Innovation Hub will allow the University of Houston to showcase their dedication to academic excellence, impactful research, and community engagement in furthering innovation and entrepreneurship.
