The University of Missouri (Mizzou) wanted to understand how their campus spaces could better support their goals. Mizzou engaged our team to conduct a space needs assessment to provide insights to facilitate the MizzouForward initiative, a transformational effort to advance research and discovery at the University.
We analyzed the entire campus ecosystem—focusing on research spaces and core facilities—to support plans for 150 new research faculty and 150 supporting personnel. Our scope included compiling comprehensive utilization data by space type and college, combining a classroom and lab assessment with demand analysis, and evaluating research facility suitability findings. We also developed workplace strategies for remote and hybrid employees and made recommendations for creating consistent student experiences across campus.
This analysis supported Mizzou’s pursuit of the required funding for new and upgraded scientific facilities and instrumentation throughout campus.
