Embracing the University of Mary Washington's modern mission of providing an engaging environment for its students

Nestled near the site of some of the Civil War’s most historic battles, the University of Mary Washington (UMW) exudes reverence for the past while embracing its modern mission of providing an engaging environment “where great minds get to work”.

In Fall 2015, university students welcomed a new University Center along College Avenue, a gateway to the century old campus. Located adjacent the UMW’s popular outdoor student gathering place - Ball Circle - the new four-story brick and cast stone structure pays homage to the campus’ rich history. The Center features a pitched roof and Jeffersonian colonnade while an elegant portico reflects a key element of Chandler Hall, which previously occupied the site.

The Center offers a campus living room overlooking bustling Ball Circle, retail dining, flexible meeting rooms, ballroom, auditorium, information center, lounge space, and suites for student organizations and multicultural groups. A highlight of the 4th floor student dining experience is seating with 180° views of the picturesque campus.
