Created through a partnership between the University of Texas at Austin, Ascension Seton Healthcare, and Central Texas Healthcare, the University of Texas at Austin Medical District was envisioned to serve as a catalyst for medical discovery, economic growth, and community wellness. The vision began with a goal of transforming 65 underutilized acres (25 hectares) into a place where healthcare, education, research, and innovation would come together to help improve lives across Central Texas.
Working alongside Sasaki Associates, we helped establish the master plan for a mixed-use innovation district. We designed integrated healthcare and academic facilities, public spaces, and space for future development. The vision for the district is to foster collaboration between students, educators, clinicians, researchers, and entrepreneurs.
Our multidisciplinary team continued to shape the district as it grew. In partnership with SLAM Collaborative, we led the design of the LEED Gold certified Health Learning Building. We also served as architect of record with ZGF Architects for the Health Transformation Building, the eight-story Health Discovery Building, and a 1,200-space parking garage. Our Building Sciences and Experiential Design and Branding team further strengthened the campus identity by creating a cohesive and welcoming experience across the district. Additionally, we served as the prime consultant for Phase 1 infrastructure and landscape design services, delivering the utilities, circulation systems, public spaces, and site framework needed to support the district now and into the future.
