UPMC Susquehanna - Williamsport Emergency Department

When Susquehanna Health wanted to upgrade their existing emergency room from curtained bays to private care options, they brought our team in to complete the design. Working with a two-stage approach, we aimed to help Susquehanna Health maintain the best care possible with a seamless transition for the space.

The new, private rooms feature comfortable beds, flat-screen televisions, visitor seating, and private toilets. Using decentralized stations (just outside the rooms), nurses can maintain direct observation and contact with patients. These stations are each equipped with computers to aid in record keeping, order entry, and test result review.

With private treatment rooms, Susquehanna Health promotes infection control, reduces noise, improves patient confidentiality, and provides an area to wait for test results or monitoring. The real success, though? Better all-around care for their patients.
