We kept the noise down during the expansion
When Susquehanna Health wanted to expand their heart and vascular services at Williamsport Hospital, one major complication was timing. Retooling one area on the fourth floor of an active hospital—neighbored by a full intensive care unit above, conference rooms directly below, and full-volume operating rooms immediately next door—is no easy job. In addition to our architecture and engineering teams for design, Susquehanna Health brought in our project management team to make it all happen.
The goal was to add an HVI-OR (heart and vascular institute operating room) and a pre-op PACU (post-anesthesia care unit). Managing noise, vibrations, and scheduled system shut downs, our project management team kept the hospital running while letting the rest of the teams do their work.
The new HVI-OR contains two electrophysiology labs, two cath labs, one cardiothoracic/robotics operating room, and two general operating rooms as well as various support spaces and a physician lounge. The pre-op PACU includes an OR reception and waiting room, observation bays, and support areas for staff.
