US Airforce Asset Management

The United States Air Force (USAF) Civil Engineering (AF CE) community needed a better method to determine facility needs and funding priorities. Asset Management (AM) would provide them with a new approach to satisfy those needs and achieve a 20% budget reduction while minimizing service impacts.

Due to our experience in municipal and commercial AM, we were hired to develop and deliver studies, services, and documents to support the implementation of AM across the Air Force. Our role was to assist the AF CE community in their development, implementation, and sustainment of a comprehensive strategic plan for implementing AM. Major activities included reviewing existing initiatives and briefings to provide an initial strategic implementation plan. This included developing recommended actions, execution plans, and associated manuals based on available data. We also configured a data warehouse tool—an automated system for gathering, integrating, and analyzing installation data to produce activity management plans.

Ultimately, we delivered a cost-effective system that achieves readiness requirements, identifies true funding needs, and establishes a prioritization methodology across a 10-year planning horizon. In addition, this support helped shape the USAF’s vision for long-term asset management and sustainable infrastructure.
