Planning and design with our veterans in mind
As part of a joint venture effort, we provided planning and design services for the development of the inpatient psychiatric and outpatient mental health facility addition and renovation. The project includes the renovation of 189,000 gross square feet (GSF) within three buildings and the addition of a new 135,000 GSF multi-story center of excellence. The addition will provide veterans with numerous mental health and psychiatric support services.
An outpatient Mental Health Center of Excellence is designated on the first floor, complete with geriatric day care centers and mental health post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse treatment program (SATP) clinics. The second and third floors are well-equipped with 60 and 40 inpatient beds, respectively. After the existing psychiatric wards in the historic Building 1 were relocated to the mental health addition, floors two through five are now being renovated to consolidate all outpatient services under one roof. Also, two existing wards of the main hospital are being renovated into two 24-bed MedSurg Wards.
Once construction is complete, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System will strengthen its mission to ensure exceptional health services to veterans—the completed project will be capable of achieving LEED Silver.
