Vergennes Train Depot

For business passengers and leisure travelers alike, having efficient travel options is a necessity. Enter the Ethan Allen Express: a high-speed rail line with service from NYC to Vermont. For over a decade, the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) had sought to extend service to Middlebury, Vergennes, and Burlington—we were brought in to help.

From the start, VTrans struggled to secure most of the necessary funding to complete the project as planned. As a trusted partner, we provided comprehensive engineering services to relocate and renovate a historic train station in Vergennes and construct a new platform. We were well-aware of the limited funding, so we aimed to deliver the highest-quality product as soon as we could. By developing plans in an accelerated timeframe and employing a two-phase approach, we helped VTrans stay committed to fully funding this viable project.

Once in service, the Vergennes Train Station will prove to be an important gateway to NYC from Northern Vermont and back—whether you’ve got an afternoon business meeting or you’re going to see Broadway’s next showstopper.
