Located in Utah’s fastest growing and driest region, the Washington County Water Conservancy District is advancing a regional water reuse program to strengthen long-term water security optimizing use of their sole source, the Virgin River basin. To support this program, the District partnered with our team to complete a feasibility study for a Regional Reuse Purification System.
As part of this effort, we evaluated system configurations, infrastructure needs, and implementation strategies to support agricultural, irrigation, and future potable reuse. Proposed early phases will focus the delivery of reuse water for non-potable uses. In the longer term, plans will center around advanced water purification for potable use.
In addition to the feasibility study, we are serving as the District’s owner advisor on the program. In this role we are providing technical analysis, supporting program development, funding strategies, regulatory coordination, and laying the foundation for successful implementation.
This integrated, multiphase system is designed to improve water resilience and expand local water supplies to meet future demands. It will include more than 20 projects that treat, store, and convey water for reuse across the region.
Ultimately, the Regional Reuse Purification System will provide a local, reliable, drought-resistant water source and help meet the region’s future demands more sustainably.
