Providing long-term environmental support for growing natural gas demands

We provided pre and post construction environmental consulting services to We Energies as they installed a new 85-mile, natural gas pipeline in west-central Wisconsin to meet growing demands in the region.

We were part of the team from the beginning of the project, providing pre-construction environmental assessments, GIS mapping of environmental concerns along proposed routes, wetland permitting and mitigation plans—we also supported the environmental permitting process which required an Incidental Take Permit (ITP) for three species. An ambitious timeline required five crews per week to perform field work during a three-month period. Field work included delineating and mapping over 700 wetlands, over 300 waterways, and characterizing endangered resources throughout the project corridor.

After construction, we continued to support this project by providing management and monitoring for wetlands and rare-species habitats that were impacted by construction. This includes seeding and planting for native species cover that promotes pollinator habitats. We’ve also repaired and enhanced several areas that experienced streambank failures and perpetual erosion control issues.
