Conceiving Hotel Zachary to expand and reinforce the Wrigley neighborhood experience on North Clark Street

Our team rounded-out the Wrigley experience by incorporating a classy, new hotel on the west side of the stadium, across North Clark Street. Part of the ballpark’s $500 million restoration, Hotel Zachary is intended to bolster the Wrigley experience and preserve the national landmark as a principal destination for tourists and residents of Chicago.

Hotel Zachary needed to complete the urban intervention of the entire restoration and development project. The complication our team faced regarded space, and not having much of it. An urban complex built in a neighborhood with tight quarters—access isn’t easy. With a new plaza, hotel, and restaurant, we had to expect a population surge and preemptively discover a solution.

With the space available, our team designed a 173-room hotel completing the urban plan. Wood paneling and comfortable interiors complement the elegant glass exterior, and several shops inhabit the storefronts to create a strong street presence. Under construction, Hotel Zachary is expected to be complete by Opening Day 2018.
