Designing a new headquarters that embodies a client’s mission

YouthBuild USA

A nonprofit organization that champions and supports opportunity youth—16- to 24-year-olds—YouthBuild USA (YB USA) needed to relocate their headquarters while undergoing their first ever global rebrand. They reached out to our designers to help.

YB USA wished for their new headquarters to embody their core values of love, accountability, collaboration, diversity, and leadership. We held several brainstorming and visioning sessions with YB USA to gain a better understanding of how they would like their new space to look and feel to inform the design concept and overall aesthetic.

We took inspiration from global networking and technology, both of which YB USA relies upon heavily to coordinate and connect with their various programs in the United States and around the world. To bring warmth to the interior, we incorporated wood look elements that connect the various spaces throughout and aid in wayfinding. We worked closely with YB USA’s branding team to identify several locations for opportunities to help reinforce their mission and values to both visitors and their employees.

Today, YB USA’s headquarters features a large, welcoming reception with a small catering area and adjacent conference rooms. Employees enjoy large workspaces with both open and private collaboration areas, a hoteling area to accommodate flexibility and future growth, and a café with expansive views and a lounge seating area.
