We're making transportation networks smarter

Traffic congestion is a problem. To overcome this issue, we need to couple efforts to expand transportation system capacity through reconstruction or rehabilitation with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Intelligent Transportation Systems are information and communication technologies that improve the safety, security, and efficiency of roadway transportation systems. We design and deploy ITS systems and support infrastructure to make a dent in the congestion problem.

Since we can’t build a whole new transportation network any time soon, we’ve been using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to help with the traffic congestion that many of us deal with on a nearly daily basis. ITS is technology applied to our transportation infrastructure to manage and improve the reliability and efficiency of our transportation network. At Stantec, we design and deploy ITS systems that are helping to make a dent in the congestion problem. We work with our clients from concept to completion, providing design, construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and project management services. Our expertise in ITS technology includes the field integration of CCTV surveillance systems, automated incident detection systems, dynamic and variable message signing, driver information displays, and vehicle-to-roadside communication systems.
