To keep pace with rapid growth in the cloud technology sector, Oracle, along with Ryan Companies, hired Stantec to help construct a new 25-acre, next-generation technology campus in Austin, Texas.
The LEED Gold and Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) 4-Star rated campus was designed in a phased approach. Phase 1 included an office building, parking garage, road and utility infrastructure for the Lady Bird Lake waterfront site, and associated site improvements consistent with a large campus facility. Phase 2 of the campus was initiated in 2017 to expand upon the initial development and the detached parking garage structure. Our team was hired to handle civil and transportation engineering, including design, permitting, and construction observation services.
By navigating this very large and detailed project through the City’s site permitting process in approximately half of the average time, we were able to meet the strict deadlines set by the tenant. Ultimately, the new campus allowed Oracle to expand its team in Austin by more than 50 percent and create a unified corporate culture. In December 2020, Oracle announced that they would officially be moving their headquarters from California to their new campus in Austin, Texas with further improvements and expansions planned for the campus.
