Combating PFAS forever chemicals

From ski wax to carrots, microwave popcorn to raingear, PFAS “forever chemicals” have infiltrated countless corners of our lives.

Communities around the world are now learning that these compounds can pose serious health risks to humans and the environment. It’s not just about safe disposal either: PFAS can leach into groundwater from landfills, farms and even wastewater treatment plants and end up back in the drinking water supply. While some of these daunting contaminants are being phased out, addressing existing PFAS remains a significant challenge.

As new research emerges, treatment technologies evolve and regulations change, Stantec’s team is working closely with communities to deploy solutions that keep people safe.
