Jiangsu Lihua Lianyungang Animal Husbandry Resettlement Review

When Lianyungang Lihua Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. Yuntai Branch (Lianyungang Lihua) invested RMB 360 million (56.6 million USD) to develop an inclusive and sustainable livestock farming project, we were brought in to audit the project’s compliance against resettlement regulations and requirements. The project is located in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, occupying 1,923 mu (317 acres).

Our combined desktop audit and on-site assessment identified past and present concerns related to project land leasing, ethnic minorities, public consultation, and grievance management as they related to ADB Safeguard Policy Statement 2009 regulations and the client’s environmental and social management system requirements. Our services included the review as well as identifying and planning appropriate measures to address outstanding compliance issues—a corrective action plan (CAP).

When complete, the sustainable livestock farming project will produce approximately 262,000 live pigs every year, and our CAP will help Lianyungang Lihua identify and meet their obligations to the local community.
