Transforming a congested rural intersection into a safer, accessible urban corridor

Tutt Blvd Extension: Dublin to Templeton Gap

What was once a rural-style T-intersection had become a growing challenge—congested, lacking drainage, and inaccessible for pedestrians. As traffic increased, the outdated layout could no longer support the community. This project transformed the intersection into a safer, more efficient urban-style S-curve with curb and gutter, a new storm system, and American Disability Act-compliant sidewalks and ramps.

Our team played a key role in delivering this transformation, providing construction inspections, managing QA/QC testing, coordinating stakeholders, and overseeing submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and documentation to provide compliance with plans and specifications. The work included removals, sanitary and storm sewer installation, utility protection, earthwork, traffic control, paving, striping, and pedestrian improvements.

Field conditions required adaptive solutions. A new sanitary sewer manhole was added to accommodate a grade break and tie into the existing system. The curb alignment was modified through a turn pocket to create a shared vehicle and bike lane while protecting existing utility vaults. Geogrid was introduced to stabilize weak subgrade soils, improving long-term performance. Aesthetic enhancements, including landscape rock between the fence line and sidewalk, added visual appeal. An existing median on an adjacent street was removed and restriped to create an additional turn lane, improving traffic flow.

The result is a safer, more accessible corridor with improved drainage, mobility, and overall community experience.
