Advancing a commitment to academic excellence and clinical research
Construction recently started on the new Helen and Jacob Shaham Academic Medical Center, a collaboration between Florida International University (FIU), South Florida’s public research university, and Baptist Health South Florida, the area’s largest not-for-profit healthcare system.
Located on FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique campus, the US$162 million advanced facility underscores FIU’s commitment to academic excellence and clinical research, and reflects the exciting growth of the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
The design reflects the brand identity and shared values of FIU and Baptist Health, further strengthening their collaborative partnership. Stantec is providing architecture, medical planning, landscape architecture, sustainability consulting, and other specialty services. The project, scheduled for completion in 2028, is the first phase of a planned academic medical campus complex.
