As South Auckland’s population continues to grow, so does the demand for accessible, high-quality healthcare services. Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora wanted to increase clinical capacity and improve patient access to essential healthcare services across the region. They engaged us to help with an expansion at the Counties Manukau Health Park.
As a key delivery partner on the programme for over five years, we’ve been involved from initial concept design to detailed design and overseeing construction monitoring. We provided engineering consultancy services for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and fire protection services across three new major healthcare facilities. We also supported significant refurbishments to existing buildings.
Our design incorporated Green Star aspirations and a strong focus on safety in design. We considered patient and healthcare professionals’ needs, as well as future maintenance, easy serviceability of plant equipment, and long-term operational performance. Working closely with the client, facilities team, contractors, equipment suppliers, and manufacturers, we adopted a proactive and solutions-focused approach. We conducted design workshops and coordinated engagement with key parties to help streamline decision-making, resolve construction queries efficiently, and keep delivery progressing across this complex, live healthcare environment.
Today, the Counties Manukau Health Park healthcare campus increases the capacity of South Auckland’s health services while improving outcomes for patients, healthcare professionals, and the wider community.
