Municipal Infrastructure Recovery Program

In response to the costly natural disaster of the June 2013 flood, the City of Calgary developed a Municipal Infrastructure Recovery Program (MIRP), which included over 200 projects for roadways, bridges, public transit, water utilities, parks, pathways, recreation facilities, and information technology and telecommunications. The City engaged us as the prime consultant to provide program management administration support.

Our team of program and project management specialists developed the Program Execution Plan to document and consolidate processes, guiding the project teams and 19 different business units. To develop this plan, we monitored, reported, and coordinated program activities. We also reviewed, compared, and tailored the City’s corporate project management framework against industry standard best practices for the program.

The plan called for the development of unique processes related to disaster recovery and specific requirements of funding sources. This resulted in increased project delivery consistency, maximized efficiencies, and minimized funding risks for the City.
