Speed and Infrastructure Programme
Our client, Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency, has a Road to Zero strategy that includes a commitment to reduce deaths and serious injuries on New Zealand’s roads, cycleways and footpaths by 40 percent over 10 years. The Speed and Infrastructure Programme is a cornerstone of this strategy. Its focus is on treating the highest risk state highway corridors with safe system interventions such as wide centreline treatments, median barriers, side barriers, and intersection upgrades.
How did we help? We provided investigation, concept and detailed design, communications and engagement, consenting assistance, and construction surveillance. Through our streamlined programming and implementation of collaborative behaviours between all stakeholders, we were able to identify efficiencies to help fast track delivery.
Spending approximately $3 billion between 2012 and 2030 on safety improvements, our client is serious in their vision of zero deaths and severe injuries on New Zealand roads. Our work is assisting them to achieve not only improvements in road safety but mitigating against fatalities and dangerous accidents—helping people everywhere get to where they’re going, safely.
