Sustaining water supplies across the UK

Human activity is changing where and how easily we can access fresh water. Population growth, industrial and agricultural demand, and climate change are all placing increasing strain on the United Kingdom’s water supplies. This is particularly true in the South of England.

Water companies in the UK are deploying means to increase water resiliency. Some ways are through demand management, water efficiency initiatives, and leakage reduction. However, new water supply resources are needed. These can include more reservoirs, adopting seawater desalination, and planned water reuse.
