Max Davison writes for The Environment Magazine about the impact of nature-based projects
How will recently published policy guidance impact the future of natural flood management (NFM) in England? The update offers some clarity for the built environment around how we can scale nature‑based solutions to address flood risks across the country.
And helpfully, the Environment Agency has produced accompanying national natural flood management heat maps. These show areas where NFM interventions are likely to provide the greatest flood risk benefits. All of this paints a positive picture. It helps underpin the ongoing shift in UK flood policy towards generating wider nature and community benefits
But challenges do remain. In an article for The Environment Magazine, Max Davison draws together insights and outlines the biggest effects from the recent guidance on the future of development of NFM solutions.
