The SCOPE: Competence and the Building Safety Act

How is the construction industry proving competence in the eyes of the Building Safety Act?
The SCOPE is a podcast addressing important issues influencing the sustainable future of real estate, infrastructure, the environment, and communities.
Competence is a key word in the positioning and requirements of the Building Safety Act.
In this episode, Professor Jose Torero from UCL, an expert witness for the Grenfell Inquiry, Bea Young, director at WW+P architects, and James McNay, fire safety director with Stantec, discuss how the industry is proving competence.
They explore what this means to the process of design and explain why performance-based design is the future. They debate how you can be assured of the competence of the suppliers and products you're selecting and assess how the industry is adapting to the changes required from the Building Safety Act.
