Stantec wins Bridge Maintenance contract with Reading Borough Council through Perfect Circle

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering services, has been appointed to manage and maintain all bridges and highway structures within Reading Borough Council’s administrative boundary.

The interdisciplinary firm was awarded the Option G contract through Perfect Circle through SCAPE Consultancy, a direct award framework designed to drive collaboration, efficiency, time and cost savings. The new agreement formalises Stantec’s existing relationship and activity, following a decade of success and knowledge-building working with the council on its bridges and highway structures.

The contract, won after a fair and competitive bidding process, covers over 200 structures including 90 bridges around Reading. Many of the bridges are iconic and historic, such as Christchurch Bridge, which Stantec designed and helped to build. This was the first bridge in Reading to be built over the Thames in nearly 100 years.

Over the next six years, Stantec will be managing, monitoring and maintaining this vital infrastructure, conducting inspections and identifying any defects or remedial work needed.
