Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design, engineering, and environmental consulting, has appointed Martin Dix as sector leader for advanced manufacturing, data centres, and mission critical facilities in the United Kingdom (UK). In his new role Dix will help accelerate Stantec's growth and impact across these key markets.
Dix’s focus is on strategic growth and the reinforcement of Stantec’s market position for delivering advanced industrial buildings. He is leveraging the Company’s UK and global experience delivering large-scale battery manufacturing and mission critical facilities, as well as its expertise around emerging sectors, such as semiconductors, aerospace, and defence manufacturing. Stantec is uniquely positioned in the UK as the only consultant with proven capability to design and deliver advanced manufacturing projects like Agratas’ Somerset plant at this scale, through a range of interdisciplinary services.
The go-to consultant for advanced manufacturing projects
Dix is currently leading Stantec’s flagship project designing the UK’s largest battery manufacturing facility in Somerset for client, Agratas. Dix, a chartered engineer, has more than 40 years’ experience, 20 with Stantec, having led the Company’s Buildings business since 2018.
Stantec’s cradle-to-grave delivery model allows clients to benefit from streamlined design management, increased efficiency, and enhanced transparency. Stantec’s integration of digital tools such as Autodesk Construction Cloud and Morta supports real-time information sharing with clients and advanced programme integration and coordination.
Building stronger teams
Dix is continuing to build and mentor specialist teams, working cross-sector across planning, buildings, infrastructure, environment, water, and energy to drive collaboration. Stantec’s extensive energy and water teams provide a competitive advantage, enabling critical site solutions for advanced manufacturing and mission critical projects.
Stantec’s UK sector leadership structure is designed to foster collaboration, resource alignment, and early engagement with clients, positioning the business for sustained growth and innovation. The team is actively recruiting and developing talent to meet increasing demand and deliver meaningful, purposeful work across the UK and globally.
“Our ambition is to create further sustained growth in these sectors, cementing our reputation as the go-to consultant for advanced manufacturing, mission critical, and data centres,” said Martin Dix. “We are leading the way with gigafactories through our design of the UK’s largest battery cell manufacturing facility, which is integral to supporting the UK Government’s 10-Year Modern Industrial Strategy. By integrating our regional and global expertise and empowering our teams, we are continually showing how we can deliver impactful solutions for clients and drive innovation and efficiency across the industry.”
