Nick is an economist planner with over 30 years of experience in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Hong Kong. With expertise in economic and strategy development, business case making, planning, regeneration, and infrastructure development, his work spans major development, area strategies, road, rail, and canal infrastructure, national and international visitor attractions, and renewable and other energy projects.
He has provided expert witness evidence at inquiries, hearings, and other forums in the UK and overseas, and he lectures in socioeconomic impact and its role in environmental impact assessments. Nick has made successful business cases for major investment in projects including New Routes to Good Growth for Medway Council (awarded £170 million), the Falkirk Helix and the now-famous Kelpies (securing £25 million lottery funding), and Glasgow’s Waterfront and West End Innovation Quarter, Avenues, and Collegelands with combined City Deal funding of £256 million.
Nick loves quite a few things but scuba diving, walking in the Dales, and watching decent football probably stick out.
