We supported the development partner and contractor through to the completion of this residential-focused regeneration

Kings Crescent is a four-hectare site that is part of a regeneration project consisting of both new build and partial refurbishment. It plays an important role in Hackney Council’s wider estate programme with high-quality, affordable housing.

We provided pre-planning and construction services for the development including civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and utilities engineering. Proposals involve the demolition of two apartment blocks and eighteen houses and the construction of seven new multi-storey apartment blocks with the refurbishment of some existing apartment blocks. We also carried out several assessments—ecological, air quality, noise, sustainability, flood risk, energy, and transport—together with a waste management plan. Due to the changes in tenure and unit mix within each block, the lower levels required transfer structures to suit the difficult column grid.

The regeneration of this residential scheme pays close attention to creating a sense of community for its residents by way of improved quality of living and proper planning. The refreshed Kings Crescent not only offers repair to a heritage environment in need of care, it also now offers affordable housing to the community.
