Creating a tourist attraction within the Barclaycard Arena

Legoland Discovery Centre

The Birmingham Development Plan outlines the need to maintain and develop the City’s existing tourist facilities to contribute to Birmingham’s continued success as a destination for visitors. In line with this vision, NEC Group Ltd sought to convert an area of the Barclaycard Arena to provide a Legoland Discovery Centre and create a new attraction for families.

Our team provided transport, flood risk and noise impact advice and prepared the necessary documents to support the planning application for the scheme; securing an attraction that will have significant regional appeal, attracting visitors and families from beyond Birmingham.

The new centre not only raises the City’s profile as a destination for tourists, but it also increases footfall to the restaurants, shops and other leisure facilities in the surrounding area and delivers social value by creating employment opportunities for local communities.
