Bringing together students, medical post-graduates and clinical researchers

King’s College London is one of the world’s leading research and teaching universities. New Hunt’s House continues the university’s tradition of excellence by providing inspirational research, teaching and communal facilities to a diverse student body.

New Hunt’s House occupies a prominent site on Guy’s campus adjacent to Guy’s Hospital. Its long, narrow footprint re-establishes the historic presence of the Memorial Quad as the heart of the medical school. The new building responds to the complex constraints and opportunities provided by urban design conditions. Tower elements housing service functions provide highly visible, vertical orienting elements to demark principal entries. They create a varied roofscape recalling neighbouring structures.

A bright, spacious two storey library is visible through a glazed curtain wall opening to the quad along its most heavily trafficked pedestrian routes. This visual dialogue between inside and outside spaces allows students and researchers to feel connected to this unique place and to each other.
