North Westgate

When Hawksworth Securities Plc needed a planning application for a new urban quarter, they brought us in to land our transportation planning expertise. Their reinvention of the North Westgate area aimed to include city centre apartments, high-spec offices, a hotel, and attractive public realm space surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants, and Peterborough’s first food hall.

We worked with the wider consultant team and provided transport data to support their technical works and input into the masterplan design. Our key task was to update the existing micro-simulation transport model for the site and advise on how the scheme might impact the neighbouring shopping centre car parks and bus station.

We continued to support the application after Hawksworth submitted their planning application, negotiating off-site highway works and mitigation schemes to reach an agreement with Peterborough City Council. The proposed scheme received unanimous support from members of the planning committee and was granted consent in November 2018.
