Limiting environmental impacts and maximising reliable energy

With older coal and gas fired power stations facing closure, and an increasing reliance on intermittent renewable energy sources, there is an increased need for quick response, emergency standby electricity generation facilities. To keep up with demand, our team has been supporting Prime Energy with planning and environmental services at proposed sites across England and Wales. Many of the sites are in rural and urban fringe locations, each with the potential to give rise to environmental effects.

Our team provided clear advice on the environmental constraints and opportunities of each site to support Prime Energy’s strategic decisions as to which sites to take forward for planning. We have provided environmental and planning support throughout the development lifecycle of a number of projects—being involved from the outset of the projects helped our team consider environmental, transportation and sustainability issues from the start. This allowed only the most viable and suitable sites from an environmental perspective to progress, limiting environmental impacts as much as possible and maximising the chances of planning success.

The timely delivery of planning applications has allowed the client to successfully bid into the government’s capacity market auctions. This, in turn, has helped the timely delivery of projects that support the UK’s greater energy strategy.
