The College, Swansea University - Steel Frame Design

Located on a former 65-acre (26-hectare) BP Transit site on the eastern approach into Swansea, The College is part of a rolling programme of investment by St Modwen into the new £450 million ($583 million) Bay Campus for Swansea University.

Working for St Modwen, and alongside main contractor VINCI Construction, our structural engineering team designed the steel frame for the academic building. Our design utilises a highly efficient frame and floor plate structure to reduce cost and respond to the intricacies of the architectural design.

The College provides undergraduate and postgraduate pathways at Swansea University. The three-storey brick building locates teaching, offices, and ancillary spaces around a central triple-height atrium space, which functions as a meeting, informal learning, and social interaction space.
