The London Clinic Cancer Centre

How can a cancer hospital full of hi-tech equipment feel welcoming to patients? Stantec worked closely with The London Clinic to challenge preconceived notions on the delivery of cancer treatment. Together, they created a facility that supports the psychosocial wellbeing of patients as well as their medical treatment.

On arrival, patients enter a stylish, hotel-like reception area. Extensive use of natural materials—a palette of maple, walnut, and stone—and uplifting artwork give the reception a sense of elegance. This attention to detail is carried through to the circulation, patient, and treatment areas.

The Centre provides the world’s most advanced radiotherapy treatment systems including the CyberKnife® Robotic Radiosurgery System and Varian Trilogy intensity-modulated radiation therapy technology. Bespoke joinery, lighting, and integrated artworks minimise clutter and soften the linac chambers.

Patient bedrooms are all single occupancy and designed with patient dignity in mind. They have large ensuites, ample storage, artworks, entertainment systems, and full height windows framing animated views of Marylebone.

This is an inspirational building, a place for life.
