Water Freight Planning
Our team has been at the forefront of the research, planning, and delivery of projects that promote waterborne freight transport for over 10 years. We’re an active member of the Freight by Water group within the Freight Transport Association (FTA), and we’ve been regularly called upon to provide advice to developers, contractors, and planning authorities seeking to promote or assess the movement of construction materials to and from development sites by water.
When the Canal and River Trust and Transport for London wanted to develop their water freight knowledge, we signed on to develop their knowledge hub as well as edit and produce the FTA’s guidance document “Making Use of Water Freight: A guide for shippers.”
The new knowledge hub will help improve awareness and understanding of waterborne freight in London, providing advice and information for planners, commercial enterprise, and developers. It has business cases and information on planning policy, infrastructure, and other key topics such as costs and funding. The hub is designed so that it can be rolled out across the rest of the UK over time.
